1.      Table assignments will be determined by tournament officials with five (5) players per table.  If necessary, table may have six (6) players due to number of entries.  Failure to sit at table assigned to you may result in disqualification.

2.      Play will consist of three (3) sessions.  Each session will consist of three (3) full rounds around the table (20 hands total per round for tables of five – 24 hands total for tables consisting of six players).  If a table has six players, the player dealing will sit out hand.  Player sitting out may not look at the blinds or comment on play (players will receive one warning, after that, a four (4) point penalty will be assessed, normal play of the hand still stands).

3.      Dealer will shuffle the deck a minimum of three (3) times and call for a mandatory cut from the player to their right.  Deal clockwise, three around the table, two in the blinds, then another three around the table.

4.      MISDEALS – If dealer turns over a card, it is an automatic misdeal.  If a player touches a card and it turns over, it is not a misdeal.  If cards are not dealt in the proper order, three around, two in blind, three around, it is a misdeal.

5.      DEALING OUT OF TURN – If it is discovered that someone has dealt out of turn and play has not begun, you must redeal with the proper dealer.  If play has already begun, the hand stands and resume dealing in order when possible.  It is the scorekeeper’s responsibility to keep track of who deals.

6.      JACK OF DIAMONDS Partner Rule – Jack of Diamonds will always be the partner.  You may not call up, or call off the Jack of Diamonds, if you get the Jack of Diamonds in the blinds, you are going alone.

7.      Picker may not look back at his bury after the first card is played.  You may not look back at the last trick once the first card of the next trick is played.  (One warning, further infractions will result in a four point penalty, hand is still played out and scored as normal.)

8.      LEADING OUT OF TURN – If a player accidentally leads out of turn and it is caught before the next card is played, they must pull it back and the correct person leads, it will not be considered a misplay the first time, subsequent infractions will be imposed a four (4) point penalty.  If it is caught after the next card has been played it will be considered a misplay.  If it is not discovered until after the hand has been completed, the hand stands as played.

9.      BOARD IS BOARD – Once a card has been placed on the table in play, the card may not be removed from the table unless the player needs to play another card to prevent an illegal play.

10.    SCORING – Scoring will be as follows:

  1. The picker and the partner win the game if they can collect 61 points from the six (6) tricks played.  The picker would then get two (2) points for the win and the partner would get one (1).  The opposition players would each lose one (1) point from their score.
  2. If the picking team gets 60 points or less, the opposition wins.  The picker would lose four (4) points and the partner would lose two (2) points, while the opposition players each receive two (2) points.
  3. If the picking team wins and the opposition fails to get 30 points, the picking team schneiders the opposition and wins double the points they would have (i.e. picker receives four (4) points and partner receives two (2) points).  The opposition players would each lose two (2) points from their score.
  4. If the picking team does not get 31 points in a game, the opposition schneiders them, and each player of the opposing team receives four (4) points.  The picker would lose eight (8) points and the partner loses four (4) points.
  5. If the picking team takes all the tricks, which would give them 120 points in the game, they no-trick the opposition and get three times the usual amount (i.e. picker receives six (6) points and partner receives three (3) points).  The opposition players would each lose three (3) points from their score.
  6. If the opposition gets all the tricks, the picker loses eighteen (18) points and each of the opposition players receive six (6) points.  The partner is not penalized in this case.

When scoring, the total score from all players, including negatives, must equal zero.

 11.  LEASTER – If no one picks the blinds, it will result in playing out the hand as a leaster.  The player with the least points will receive four (4) points while all other players will lose one (1) point.  You must take a trick to qualify and the winner of the last trick receives the blinds.  In the case of a tie, the player receiving the low count first (i.e. take the earlier trick) will be awarded the points.

 12.  TABLE TALK – Do not make comments which might influence play or describe yours or another person’s hand.  First offense will result in a warning, subsequent infractions will result in a four (4) point penalty.  The hand is still scored as normal and played out.

Any dispute will be settled by a tournament official.  These decisions shall prevail and be final.
